CA Guitars closes up shop

Composite Acoustics, commonly known as CA Guitars, has closed its doors.

The Louisiana-based company that manufactured steel-string acoustic guitars made from a carbon fiber material had found adherents among both hobby and professional pickers worldwide, including Blue Highway guitarist Tim Stafford. CA had created a Tim Stafford signature model which Tim had been using on stage and in the studio for some time.

We have not been able to reach anyone with CA for further details, but our understanding is that existing stock is available to dealers while current ownership investigates the possibility of finding a buyer for the company. Their web site is down at this time as it has been since last week.

Stafford tells us that the company had been experiencing cash flow problems of late – something familiar to any niche small business owner in this economy.

We have made this point before, and use this sad occasion to do so again.

In tough times, it makes good financial sense to keep cash close to home. But as your situation allows, please remember the businesses in and around the music you love as they struggle to stay afloat. Your patronage and support may mean the difference between doors that stay open, or close for good.
