Bobby Osborne to be feted at ETSU

Event Details

paramountThe Bluegrass, Old Time, Celtic & Country Music program at East Tennessee State University will be honoring the one and only Bobby Osborne this Saturday (4/23) at a concert to be held at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Bristol, TN.

It’s the school’s 13th Annual Celebration concert for the program, which will also feature brief performances by nearly a dozen groups assembled from students at ETSU. Expected will be bands in all the above mentioned disciplines.

Bobby has also assembled a special band for this show, apart from his regular touring group, The Rocky Top X-Press. He will pull together a set of music drawn from the many hit songs he has recorded with his brother Sonny as The Osborne Brothers over their long career. A  jam finale is also planned including the many student pickers booked on the show.

ETSU lays claim to being the first institution to offer a fully-accredited bachelor’s degree in bluegrass performance within their Appalachian Studies program. More than a hundred students are currently enrolled.
