Bluegrass rules on Music City Roots tonight

Tonight’s (2/1) edition of Music City Roots is bluegrass, bluegrass, bluegrass.

Scheduled to perform this evening from the Loveless Barn in Nashville are Lonesome River Band, Chris Jones & the Nightdrivers, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, Special Consensus and Darrell Scott. Jim Lauderdale will host the program, which is broadcast online  at 8:00 p.m. (EST).

Talking the other day with Sammy Shelor about LRB playing the show tonight brought out a couple of facts.

First up, the long-legged banjo player tells us that he has finally entered the 21st century, having recently launched an official web site.

“I’ve always relied on the Lonesome River Band site for my online presence, but as I start doing more engineering and producing, it seemed like I ought to have my own site as well.”

The site also offers Sammy’s personal merchandise for sale, like his instructional banjo DVD, and the stainless steel fingerpicks that bear his name. Long produced and marketed by AcuTab, Shelor has recently taken over the distribution of the picks himself, which in a Music City Roots coincidence, are fabricated by Chris Bryant, banjo picker with Darin & Brooke Aldridge.
