Back When from Lonesome River Band

Lonesome River Band

Mountain Home Music’s latest release from Lonesome River Band is a new song written by guitarist Jesse Smathers, along with Barry Hutchens and Nick Goad.

It’s one titled Back When, filled with memories of younger days and times gone by, and how they can spring back up at the slightest provocation.

Jesse says the song had a truly organic genesis.

“I’m so proud to have had a hand in writing Back When with my pals. As we had a conversation on Barry’s back porch, we reminisced about our youth, the mischief we got into, and of course being musicians, our first chords and songs we learned. Looking back, those moments are so sentimental and they made me into who I am today. It’s important to be aware of those subtle reminders that take us to our formative years way ‘back when.'”

Back When is sung by LRB’s youthful mandolinist, Adam Miller, whose baby face makes it hard to believe that he has much of any old days, but he delivers it beautifully, as he always does. Support comes from regular bandmates Smathers on guitar, Sammy Shelor on banjo, Mike Hartgrove on fiddle, and Kameron Keller on bass, with a guest contibution from Rod Riley on electric guitar.

Give it a listen.

Back When is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct.
