Highly-awarded country artist Carly Pearce is tracing out her Appalachian roots on her upcoming album, Honest Woman, well demonstrated on her just-released single, recorded with the assistance of bluegrass headliners Dan Tyminski and Molly Tuttle.
Pearce says that she’s quite proud of where she came from, and is eager to show everyone her bluegrass chops.
“Bluegrass is such a cherished part of who I am as it’s where I got my start. To record a song that honors my roots with two artists that I have deep respect and admiration for is not only a special moment, but very emotional. Ten-year-old Carly who grew up singing in bluegrass bands would be over the moon to know she has a song with Dan and Molly (as is present-day Carly!). This is the perfect moment in my career to show fans this side of my heart.”
For the single, we have What If You Loved Me, written by Lauren Hungate, Jordan Reynolds, and Parker Welling, a classic “what if” story of a woman wondering how life would be in a situation where instead of loving a man who doesn’t reciprocate, things were the other way round.
In the accompanying music video, we see Carly on guitar with Dan on mandolin and Molly on banjo, trading lines and verses, and delivering the chorus in lovely three-part harmony.
