Free Sarah Jarosz track online

Event Details

Fresh off her second appearance on A Prairie Home Companion over the weekend, Sarah Jarosz is offering a free track download from her upcoming Sugar Hill project online.

The song is Annabelle Lee, a wonderful reworking of an Edgar Allan Poe poem buy that same name, widely believed to have been written about his wife, Virginia. The poem was completed just a short time before Poe died in 1849, and it prophetically tells of a love so strong that it endures beyond death.

Sarah kept close to Poe’s actual words, setting them to a haunting old timey melody, on which she supplies clawhammer banjo.
