We are saddened to share the news that Jody Rainwater, aka Charles E ‘Chuck’ Johnson, passed away on Christmas Eve. He died with his family in attendance.
He served as bass player with Flatt & Scruggs for many years, and after that was a fixture at WSVS radio in Crewe, VA.
We will have more details shortly about this bluegrass pioneer, but wanted to pass along this bit of news from Jody’s daughter, Charlie:
“Many of you have asked about arrangements for Dad, which are now finalized. Visitation will be at 6 tomorrow evening, December 27, at Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, 200 West Carolina Ave., Crewe, VA. Funeral service will also be at Jennings-McMillian on Wednesday, December 28, at 1 PM, with interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Virginia Museum of Radio Entertainment, PO Box 47, Crewe, VA 23930.”
