Radio Ramblers in the Swiss Alps

Event Details

This post is a contribution from popular bluegrass artist and radio man, Joe Mullins. He and The Radio Ramblers are celebrating 10 years together with their very first tour of England and Switzerland this week. Joe has promised to send photos and stories while they are away.

ramblersWe started off Sunday with breathtaking scenery. Singing Matterhorn while a friend drove us into the mountains for lunch, we enjoyed a gorgeous day. After some pictures and a high lonesome version of “R I C O L A” we headed to the next gig.

Palao Dettwiller really understands how to present bluegrass to the Swiss fans. He is my kind of guy – quality with everything for the audience and the artists. We performed Sunday, May 22 in Liestal, just outside Basel. A small but very comfortable venue was sold out with enthusiastic fans. We enjoyed great quality sound, too.

I am thankful our new friends in Switzerland filled the seats at all shows and bought all the CDs we could bring, because we will probably need new clothes from the weight we’ve gained! Wow – outstanding cuisine of course and we did some shopping this morning. Bought enough chocolate to last until our next visit to Switzerland which we hope happens very soon!

Monday night we are in London. I will gladly send a final report from our fantastic week abroad. Thanks for following JMRR and encouraging us every mile.
