Original Rarely Herd to reunite for Bob Evans

Event Details

The original Rarely Herd, circa 1992For more than 25 years, The Rarely Herd has provided quality bluegrass entertainment in the central US from their home base in Ohio. A lot of pickers and singers have been involved over the years in the Rarely Herd family, which continues to travel and perform together.

But it’s been 20 years since the original lineup that started things off in 1989 have appeared together on stage.

That will be remedied next weekend when Jim Stack, Jeff Weaver, Alan Stack, Calvin Leport, and Dan Brooks get the old band back together for four shows at the Bob Evans Farm Festival in Rio Grande, OH. This is the group that recorded the first three albums for Pinecastle Records between ’89 and ’95, resulting in a number of top 10 radio hits, a pair of IBMA Award nominations, a Dove award, and three Entertaining Band of the Year trophies from SPBGMA at the National Bluegrass Music Awards in Nashville.

Long time fans of the band will surely delight in seeing these familiar faces together on stage once again, recreating the songs they recorded jointly in the early days, along with the comedy bits and routines that made them into fan favorites all across the bluegrass world.

Show times are at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. on October 14, and 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. Tickets each day are only $6 for adults and $4 for children 6-18. Primitive camping is free. Balsam Range will appear as well on Sunday, October 16.
