9th annual IBMM Mandolin Camp in November

ibmm_mando14The International Bluegrass Music Museum will continue to host its annual mandolin camp at IBMM headquarters in Owensboro, KY under the direction of Mike Compton.

Some confusion has arisen owing to Mike moving his Bill Monroe mandolin camp to Nashville, which had previously been held at the museum each Fall. Compton looked for a new home for the Monroe camp when IBMM decided that they wanted to make their camp more inclusive of modern mandolin styles. So, instead of displacing the Monroe camp, there are now two.

The IBMM Mandolin Camp will be held November 14-16. Headlining this year is the legend, Jesse McReynolds, who will share his iconic crosspicking style, plus his wide knowledge of the mandolin. A pair of younger artists, Sierra Hull and Dominick Leslie of The Deadly Gentlemen, will also be on the faculty. For jazz mando students, Don Stiernberg will be on hand, as will luthier Will Kimble.

To clear everything up, The Bill Monroe Mandolin Camp is September 4-7 in Nashville, and the IBMM event is in November in Owensboro.

Choose your poison, and pick that mandolin!
