Ernie and Debi Evans continue their whirlwind pace in the Florida bluegrass community. Thursday brought an open mic night to the Roscoe Canady Memorial Bluegrass Festival in Waldo, FL. The audience enjoyed listening to music provided by local bands and some “put together” bands.
Jo Odom keeps order as the emcee at this festival. Local DJ, Greg Bird, opened the day on Friday with some classic country tunes. The always popular Jerry Butler and the Blu-J’s took the stage next. The crowd is never happier than when Jerry cocks his hat to the side and does his impersonation of Lester Flatt.
The Gary Waldrep Band hit the stage with their typical high energy show. Mickey Boles wowed the audience with his antics. Sideline closed out the show. Steve Dilling sat in a chair and played mandolin due to having some surgery recently. That did not diminish his excellent band emcee abilities.
Jerry Butler and Kipper Stitt hosted an after-show jam session that drew in a bunch of pickers.
