Oh Virginia from Olivia Jo

Olivia Jo

New from ATS Records is a single from Virginia songbird Olivia Jo, one written by Mark Brinkman and David Stewart called Oh Virginia.

The song resulted from a chance meeting between her and the writers at World of Bluegrass one year. As she shared her personal story, they began to realize that it would make a fine song.

Olivia Jo says that she felt the vibe as soon as she heard it.

“I’m a Virginia girl born and raised, so naturally that attracted me to the song right off the bat. I knew after listening to it one time that it was a perfect fit. The song tells the story of missing home after leaving everything you knew behind, to see what the rest of the world has to offer. As I listened to the lyrics, I could visualize every detail they were describing in my head and relate to them on a personal level. It almost felt like they wrote the song with me in mind.

Regardless of where my travels take me as I pursue my music career, I’m always happy and thankful that I have a slice of heaven on a gravel road to come home to.

Brink and David are incredibly talented songwriters and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to record one of their songs to share with bluegrass fans everywhere.”

Helping out in the studio were Cody Kilby on guitar, Scott Vestal on banjo, Andy Leftwich on fiddle and mandolin, and Jeff Partin on bass and reso-guitar. Colton Baker and Barry Hutchens sang harmony.

Give it a listen.

Oh Virginia is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via Get It Played.
