We received a note earlier in the week from our friend, Derek Brandon, mentioning that he had recently posted the most recent edition of North West Bluegrass News online. The North West in this case, is the northwestern part of England, a bluegrass beat Derek has covered for many years, initially in a printed newsletter, and now on the web as well. Anyone living in, or planning to travel to this part of the UK (Manchester/Liverpool) can find valuable information about bands, clubs, and sessions listed. Details about similar venues for all of Britain are also posted on the site.
Interestingly, this current issue of the online magazine features Derek’s detailed journal (with photos) of his visit to San Francisco in September 2005 for the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. He posted at some length about almost every act, including an after concert party at a local watering hole.
