New AKUS tour dates added for November

Event Details

Alison Krauss & Union Station have added a number of new dates to their October/November touring schedule. The shows all appear to be east coast and north central US dates. More details available on the AKUS web site.

Your blog authors attended one of the very early shows on this tour, and it was an impressive outing on many levels. Obviously, the performance was flawless, passionate and beautifully executed, and the production was very impressive as well, managing to be effective while remaining sufficiently understated to keep the focus on the music.

Alison joked a number of times from stage about how having a more scripted show was playing havoc with the band’s preference for a looser presentation, but computerized lighting cues are nothing to be trifled with. I also had occasion to speak with Ron Block after the show, and he described this current tour as being notably more ambitious than any they had previously undertaken, and running the better part of a full year.

BRANCE ADDS: Scripted it might have been, but it still felt spontaneous, and Alison was just as funny as I expected her to be.
