Feeling lucky? Rockygrass Academy lottery coming up

Tonight is the deadline to register for the online lottery to attend the 2012 RockyGrass Academy in Lyons, CO.

The Academy is held each year for the week preceding the RockyGrass festival in July, with instructors are typically culled from the fest’s headline performers. Classes and workshops are held during the week for all the bluegrass instruments, plus songwriting and bluegrass singing, broken into 3 experience levels. There are also workshops for younger pickers (7-14) and a luthiery course.

Organizers are especially proud that the instructional staff for the 2012 Academy will consist of the members of both Punch Brothers and The Infamous Stringdusters.

To accommodate the large number of interested potential participants, RockyGrass holds a lottery each year where students can sign up, listing the courses of instruction they prefer, with registrants chosen at random for all available spaces.

The full roster of teachers isn’t final, but the organizers have made this interim list available:

  • Guitar: Chris Eldridge, Andy Falco, Sandy Munro & more TBA
