Bluegrass FM Features The Bluegrass Brothers

Virginia-based band “The Bluegrass Brothers” are featured on the Bluegrass FM website this week. The band, which consists of brothers Robert (banjo, vocals) and Victor Dowdy (bass, vocals) and Victor’s sons, Steve (guitar, vocals) and Donald (guitar, vocals) and non-family member Travers Chandler (mandolin, vocals), is based in Salem, VA.

According to a video interview with Pete Stover of Bluegrass FM, Robert explains that the band was formed in 1989 and after adding Steve and Donald ten years later, the group went full-time earlier this year and has performed around the country and in Canada this year. Clips from the video interview can be viewed online at BluegrassFm.org, the radio station’s website.

A portion of an audio interview with Victor will be posted on the website as well this week. And, a radio broadcast special featuring Robert, Victor and Travers Chandler will be broadcast over the weekend as the band performs at the Lucketts Community Center in Northern Virginia, the venue with the longest-running bluegrass series in the country.

Bluegrass FM broadcasts a blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass 24/7 over its two stations in Virginia, WWED 89.5 in Fredericksburg and 91.7 in Lynchburg (starting operation next week).
