2009 BLUEGRASS BANDS AND HELPING HANDS

A BENEFIT CONCERT TO HELP NORTH GEORGIA NEIGHBORS DEVASTATED BY JOB LOSS

With an unemployment rate of 12 plus percent, the city of Dalton, Georgia, "the Carpet Capital of the World", has quickly become a ranking contender for the "Unemployment Capital of the Southeast." Area bluegrass musicians have stepped up to the challenge, forming an organization called "bluegrass bands and helping hands," for the sole purpose of raising money for DOC-UP a local charitable organization.

To help alleviate the financial woes affecting area families, a great evening of music has been planned Saturday September 26, 2009, when the award winning band Mountain Heart will perform at Heritage Point Park in Dalton, Georgia. Also performing will be the Dixie Bee Liners, Spatial Effects, Steel String Session, and other bands to be announced.The public is invited to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and enjoy the music. Adult tickets are $15.00, Students $5.00 and Children under 12 yrs free. All proceeds to benefit DOC-UP, a charitable organization which helps families impacted by job loss with rent/utility assistance and emergency referrals to food banks.The concert area gates will open at 4:30pm with live music beginning at 5:00 pm.

Heritage Park is located at 1275 Cross Plains Trail, off the North By-Pass in Dalton, Georgia. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 510 South Tibbs Road, Dalton, Georgia 30720.
