Huckleberry Records has released Oh, Athena, a new single from Brad Kaylor & Mineral Bluff Revue. Penned by the band’s guitarist, Dylan Smith, the song tells the age-old story of a man facing his regrets and realizing he let a good woman slip away.

Oh, Athena is a good ole bluegrass heartbreak tune written from the perspective of a man that’s desperately pleading to a woman,” says Smith. “It’s hard not to be happy about a sad song, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this recording.”

An upbeat, modern traditional number with fine instrumentation, Oh, Athena will have listeners’ toes tapping and is sure to find favor on the radio. Smith includes several clever turns of phrase, including this harsh reality check in the second verse: “I guess it’s time to get on with my life, stop the dream with you as my wife. I’ll move on, but I might have to die, oh, Athena.”

In addition to Smith on guitar, the single features band members Brad Kaylor (bass and lead vocals), Kenneth Rymer (mandolin and harmony vocals), Hayden Bramlett (banjo), and Chris Pope (harmony vocals). Ron Stewart’s fiddle helps round things out.

Oh, Athena is now available from popular online download and streaming services, and to radio programmers from Get It Played.
