Sound Biscuit Records has added The Bays Mountain Cut-Ups to their roster of artists.
The group consists of talented bluegrass artists with a wealth of experience despite their youth. Ben Watlington is on guitar, Colton Powers on banjo, Max Etling on bass, and Josh Gooding on mandolin.
All save Gooding studied in the Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Studies program at East Tennessee State University, and the three also earned their stripes performing at the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery in East Tennessee. They also were the opening edition of Midnight Run with Seth Mulder in 2015, earning raves for their solid traditional bluegrass sound, and entertaining stage show.
Powers shares that they are psyched to be joining up with Dave Maggard and Sound Biscuit.
“We’re very excited to be signing with Sound Biscuit studios. Each of us has known Dave for some time and are looking forward to getting into the studio to make some great music, and are excited to see what the future holds!”
Maggard says that he is eager to hear what these guys put together in the studio.
“Bays Mountain Cut-Ups are what happens when you put experience and talent together. These young men have an extensive background in performing traditional bluegrass music and it’s creating an exciting new sound that I’m proud to be a part of. If you are a fan of bluegrass, you need to put this group on your playlist and your ‘I need to see these guys’ list.”
Look for new music from Bays Mountain Cut-Ups coming in September.
