Snapshots from Darin & Brooke in February

Event Details

snapshotsMountain Home Music has announced a February release for the next album from Darin & Brooke Aldridge. It will be called Snapshots, and is intended to present a group of songs that have meaning to the couple, just like the stack of photos they might hold on to from their past.

It’s also meant to display their love for bluegrass music, with several Bill Monroe songs included, along with guest vocal spots from luminaries like Ricky Skaggs and Doyle Lawson. Sam Bush makes an appearance playing mandolin, as does Bobby Hicks on fiddle.

We caught up with Darin Aldridge this morning, and he shared a few thoughts about the new project.

Darin & Brooke Aldridge“This has got to be the grassiest record we’ve done, with little pieces of Brooke and I’s past represented in music. Doyle Lawson sings a Country Gentlemen song that I recall from my time with the Gents. Brooke has always been an Emmylou Harris fan and we have one of hers on here too. Ricky Skaggs joins us on one of favorite Gospel tunes, and we have an Everly Brothers song that we love to sing.”

Darin said that there are also a couple of songs he has written on Snapshots, which was recorded this past summer when the band was touring actively.

A first single has been released, a rousing version of Monroe’s Get Up John, and a second is expected just after the first of the year.

Audio samples for all 11 tracks can be found now in iTunes where a special discounted pre-order price is offered. The album is set for a February 17 release.
