Silver Dollar City announces competition winners

Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City has shared the winners of their two band competitions last month at the park in Branson, MO.

Each year they host a Single Microphone Championship and a Youth In Bluegrass Contest during the annual Bluegrass & BBQ Festival which runs for several weeks in May.

Here are the winners from the Single Microphone Championship, in which 22 bands from 11 states competed. Point totals are included to show how close it was. Links go to videos of each band’s performance.

1st – Lonesome Meadow, Westerville, OH (514 points)
2nd – Pure Tradition, Jay, OK (512 points)
3rd – The Lindsey Family, Greensburg, KY (511 points)

WMD Band, winners of the 2013 KSMU Youth In Bluegrass Band Contest at the Bluegrass & BBQ Festival And here are the top finishers in the Youth In Bluegrass Band Contest, sponsored by KSMU, Ozarks Public Radio.

19 bands from 10 states participated, with prizes going to the top five places.

1st – WMD Band, Colorado Springs, CO (533 points)
2nd – The Lindsey Family, Greensburg, KY (532 points)
3rd – The Smith Family, Robbins, NC (508 Points)
4th – The Burie Family of New Berlin, WI (502 points)
5th – The Baker Family, Birch Tree, MO (500 points)
