Songs of Heart and Home - Greg BlakeGreg Blake has shared a track from his new album, Songs of Heart and Home, a lovely duet with Claire Lynch on Dreaming of a Little Cabin.

Blake is the lead singer and guitarist with Jeff Scroggins & Colorado, who made his way to the Front Range from his home in West Virginia, with a stop off in Kansas City. He’s collected awards and nominations aplenty from SPBGMA, and is proud to showcase his guitar and vocal prowess on this, his debut solo project.

Dreaming of a Little Cabin is an old time favorite from Albert Brumley, which Greg recorded with Sally Van Meter on reso-guitar, John Reischman on mandolin, Mark Schatz on bass, and Blaine Sprouse on fiddles. Blake has the exact richness in his voice to convey this lonesome song, and Lynch delivers as only she can.

He tells us that having Claire join him on this one was a result of happenstance.

Greg Blake“Claire and I met at a winter bluegrass festival in Denver a few years ago. She and Mark Schatz invited me to jam with them after one of their sets and we played and sang songs way into the next morning. The three of us kept in touch over the next several months. They both encouraged me that I should be performing more regularly, so when it came time to record this solo CD, it seemed natural to ask these two heavy hitters to help me. I’ve always wanted to record Dreaming … as a duet with a female voice. And I knew Claire’s angelic voice would lend itself well to the feel of the song. The song is very special to me – due in part to Claire’s sublime performance, and due to the fact that it reminds me of my dear old grandmother and the little cabin in which I grew up in West Virginia.”

Songs of Heart and Home is available now wherever bluegrass music is sold.
