More video from Blue Moon Rising

Here is the second (and final) video report from Blue Moon Rising, who spent this past weekend at Randy Kohrs’ Slack Key Studio working on a new CD.

We have written a good bit about the trials and tribulations founding member Chris West has faced keeping the band together of late. He lost his long-time musical partner Keith Garrett when The Boxcars formed late last year, along with then bassist Harold Nixon. Their departure sparked banjo picker Justin Jenkins to leave as well, putting West in the position of reforming the entire band.

With a contract for a new record in 2010 he had to move fast, and it is a testament to his diligence and the power of his music that he was able to assemble a strong young band in short order. Tracking and touring now with Blue Moon Rising are Tony Mowell on bass, Brandon Bostic on mandolin and guitar and Owen Piatt on banjo. West will also play mandolin and guitar and continue to be the band’s primary songwriter.

From the looks of this video, these young fellas can not only pick and sing, they cut up with the best of ’em.
