When Swedish grassers G2 made the trip to Nashville in the Spring of 2014 to record their current CD, Mind Over Matter, they came with filmmaker David Elfgren in tow. He was on hand to capture the process, from the first meeting between the band and their chosen producer Erick Jaskowiak in Sweden, through to the completion of recording in Nashville a few months later.
The narrative is advanced through mini-interviews with all the guys as they arrive in the US, and head to Erick’s studio to work. Dialogue switches between Swedish and English, with English subtitles, as the band goes from nervous starts into the serious discipline of recording.
But don’t think there isn’t plenty of music along the way. Elfgren catches the musicians in their isolation booths as the sounds goes down, in between the issues and crises that pop up as things progress.
