Mama Tried – single release from Rhonda Vincent

rhonda_hagRhonda Vincent has today released a new single to radio, her bluegrass version of the Merle Haggard classic, Mama Tried.

Like so many country and bluegrass artists, Rhonda had been a lifelong Haggard fan, and had the opportunity to meet and open a show for him just last year.

As her personal tribute to the recently departed Hag, she and her band recorded Mama Tried, now available as a single to radio through Airplay Direct. It’s very true to Haggard’s original arrangement, but with a bluegrass beat. Like so many of Merle’s songs, it converts to a grass feel with very little modification.

Rhonda was joined in the studio by The Rage: Hunter Berry on fiddle, Josh Williams on guitar, Aaron McDaris on banjo, Mickey Harris on bass, and Brent Burke on reso-guitar. Harmony vocals were provided by Vincent’s daughter, Sally Berry, and the great Sonny Osborne.

A world-wide single release is anticipated in the near future, but you can bet you’ll be hearing it right away on bluegrass and classic country radio.

Keep an eye on Rhonda’s web site or Facebook page for news about the single release.
