Live recording at Bean Blossom

Event Details

Rural Rhythm Records is doing their part in celebrating 2011 as the centennial of Bill Monroe’s birth with a live album to be recorded starting this weekend at the Bill Monroe’s Memorial Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival in Indiana.

Like their popular 2010 live project from the Grave’s Mountain festival, Tribute To Bill Monroe – Live At Bean Blossom will feature a number of Rural Rhythm artists paying homage to Big Mon with their own versions of classic Monroe songs and tunes.

I couldn’t wrangle a complete song list, but did get info on a couple of the tracks to be cut from the Bean Blossom stage: Footprints In The Snow by Lonesome River Band, In Despair by Lou Reid & Carolina, Blue Moon Of Kentucky by Bobby Osborne & Rocky Top X-Press, and Highway Of Sorrow by Brand New Strings.

Quite a team has been assembled to handle the logistics for this project, including on-site and post production.

  • Live recording – Tom Fuller and Dale Perry
  • Album Supervisor/Videographer – Sammy Passamano III
  • Album Producer – Sammy Shelor
  • Executive Producer – Sam Passamano
  • Liner Notes – Tom Adler
  • Media Coordinator/Photographer – Penni McDaniel
  • Event Executive – Dwight Dillman

Penni has promised to send us some photographs from the festival as she can find the time, so keep an eye out for that here on Bluegrass Today. Bean Blossom runs from June 11-18.
