Kevin Prater to Patuxent Music

Event Details

Kevin PraterYesterday afternoon at the Patuxent Music studio in Rockville, MD Kevin Prater joined the family of artists recording for Tom Mindte and Patuxent. He and his Kevin Prater Band will begin work shortly on a new album, hopefully to be released early in 2017.

Based in Kentucky, Prater has been a traditional bluegrass musician all his life, playing all of the instruments associated with the music. He came to prominence in our industry performing with James King, adding his high tenor to Kings’ expressive voice for several years.

The Kevin Prater Band launched in 2009 with long-time associate Tom Timberlake on banjo, who is also Prater’s primary vocal partner in the group. Other members have come and gone, but these two have stuck together since the band was formed, with Tom on either guitar or banjo.

Danny Stinter is on bass, with brothers Jake and Adam Burrows filling out the lineup on banjo and fiddle.

Here’s a video from last year of Kevin and the boys doing Back In Tennessee from their Walking Rails and Counting Ties album.

More details about their first Patuxent project will be forthcoming.
