Harlan Road coming from NewTown

newtownMountain Home Music has announced July 8 for the release date for Harlan Road, their next album for Kentucky’s NewTown.

It’s been three years since we’ve had a new project from this talented group, fronted by the husband/wife team of Kati Penn and Jr. Williams. Since the last record, Kati and Jr. have welcomed a daughter into their family, and reformed the band as former long time guitarist and songwriter CJ Cain took his exit, and bassist Terry Poirier returned to Canada to work with The Spinney Brothers.

Today’s NewTown features Jr. on banjo and Kati on fiddle as before, with Hayes Griffin on guitar, Mitchell Cannon on mandolin, and Travis Anderson on bass. Kati and Jr. continue as primary vocalists, and despite leaving the band, Cain has contributed a number of his strong compositions to the upcoming CD.

Also prominent on Harlan Road is fellow-Kentuckian Tyler Childers, who has three of his songs cut, and Americana songstress Sarah Siskind with one.

Barry Bales produced the project, which contains 11 tracks.

Pre-orders are enabled now in iTunes.

Can’t wait for this one.
