Hal Wylie passes

Event Details

Hal Wylie

Hal Wylie, guitarist, vocalist, and long time sidekick of Roger Sprung, passed away on September 20.

He was born in the Bronx, NY on May 21, 1930, and was a fixture in the early days of the folk music scene in Washington Square Park in New York City during the 1960s.

Later he performed with Roger Sprung, Hal Wylie and the Progressive Bluegrassers, who toured extensively throughout New York state and New England. Hal possessed a rich, warm baritone voice which was influenced by traditional American folk and Irish music.

This pictorial tribute was assembled by his friends after he passed.

And here he is with Roger in 1986.
