Friday at Newell Lodge

Volume Five with Sarah Harris on Friday at Newell Lodge Bluegrass Festival - photo © 2014 by Bill WarrenFriday dawned dry, but chilly at the Newell Lodge Bluegrass Festival in Folkston, GA.

Our emcee, Irby Brown, livened up the day and brought smiles to everyone’s faces and Big Cypress Bluegrass from Florida began chasing the chill away with their upbeat music.

The Trinity River Band from Florida is an up and coming family band emerging on the bluegrass landscape. Oldest daughter, Sarah Harris, was nominated for a momentum award at the IBMA World of Bluegrass last fall.

Francis Mooney brought her fine band, Fontanna Sunset to Newell. She will be performing on Saturday also.

Volume Five closed out the Friday show in the cool evening air. Leader Glen Harrell invited Sarah Harris on stage for a duet number to the great appreciation of the crowd. Volume Five will present two sets of music on Saturday also.

Saturday will bring Scott and Amanda Anderson, Eddie Rose and Highway Forty, and Ralph Stanley II to join Frances Mooney and Volume Five.
