Free music from Horseshoes & Hand Grenades

Horseshoes & Hand GrenadesWisconsin’s Horseshoes & Hand Grenades are offering a free download of their Middle Western CD this week. The “name your price” offer will be available until Friday, allowing for free downloads during this time. Of course, one is free to add a tip or pay something greater than zero.

The band consists of David Lynch on harmonica and accordion, Collin Mettelka on fiddle and mandolin, Russell Pedersen on banjo and fiddle, Adam Gruel on guitar and reso-guitar, and Sam Odin on bass.

Their sound lies somewhere amidst the hodgepodge of bluegrass, old time, Americana, and folk music that we hear coming out of midwestern states these days. If they sound like a college band, it’s because that’s how they started. They just never stopped playing together, and now perform regularly throughout the middle US with scheduled trips to the DelFest stage next month, California’s High Sierra Festival in June, and the Northwest String Summit in Oregon come July.

You can sample the music from Middle Western below, and follow the link to their bandcamp page for your free download.

You can also visit the band online.
