Deep Into The Heart from Jake and Rebekah

workmansJake & Rebekah Workman have released a first song from their upcoming CD. It’s the title track, Deep Into The Heart, one Jake wrote for the project.

This husband/wife duo lives in the bluegrass heartland of Draper, UT and has performed this past few years with Kansas-based Driven. But now that Jake has accepted the guitar chair with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder – only the 4th to do so since Skaggs returned to bluegrass in 1997 – it looks like it will only be Rebekah representing the family in the group.

The Workmans have also been working together in Utah, both as a duo and with their own band for several years, and produced the new album themselves. Jake plays guitar, banjo, and mandolin, with Rebekah singing lead and playing fiddle. Driven bassist Blake McLemore holds down the low end, and Rob Ickes provides slide sounds on this track.

These two can bring it; just have a listen.

Jake tells us that the rest of the album mixes bluegrass of many styles with a bit of gypsy swing. He is a guitar player, after all.

Other guests include vocalists Ron Spears and Driven bandmate Jimmy Campbell. Jake and Rebekah recorded the tracks themselves, then they were mixed and mastered by Jim VanCleve in Nashville.

Look for the new CD to be available in the next few weeks.

Radio programmers can download Deep Into The Heart from Airplay Direct.
