Dancin’ on My Grave video from Wood & Wire

Event Details

The Coast - Wood & WireWhat does bluegrass music from Austin, TX sound like? Well, if you’re not familiar with Wood & Wire, their new video of Dancin’ On My Grave, recorded live for KUTX public radio last week, may offer a clue.

In addition to an aggressive performance style, it apparently also involves abrupt chord changes from outside the key, something I recall as a fad in the 1970s. Nobody expects a 7 minor chord with its flatted fifth instead of a dominant 7th.

They’re bringing it back!

Dancin’ On My Grave is included on The Coast, Wood & Wire’s latest CD, released on February 3.

The band is Tony Kamel on guitar, Dom Fisher on bass, Trevor Smith on banjo, and Billy Bright on mandolin.
