Amos and Sarah video from Becky Buller

Amos W. and Sarah B. Ames - courtesy of the Ames familyDark Shadow Recording has released a new performance music video for Becky Buller. It’s the song Amos and Sarah, a Civil War story she wrote with Melissa Ames, included on her ‘Tween Earth And Sky CD.

It’s actually a true story about Melissa’s great-grandparents, Amos and Sarah Ames. Amos fought with the 4th Iowa Infantry, and was captured during the Battle of Jonesborough in Georgia 150 years ago.

Becky and Melissa were childhood friends who became acquainted when each was performing with their family bluegrass bands as young girls. They reconnected about ten years ago, and wrote this song.

Becky says that when she and her husband were first getting to know each other…

“I sang this for Jeff while we were dating. He’s a history buff, especially when it comes to WW2 and the American Civil War; I thought I’d get brownie points with him for writing a Civil War song. When I finished singing, he got really quiet, then said, ‘I’m sorry my great-great granddaddy captured your character.’ “

The video was recorded during Becky’s CD release concert at Carter’s Vintage Guitars on October 22, 2014 in Nashville, with friend and label head Stephen Mougin on second guitar.
