Pete Winne’s will be a familiar name to folks in bluegrass radio. He worked that circuit for Rebel Records for a time, but is now focused on a rootsy Americana group, Tumbling Bones, with whom he performs.
They have a new 7-song EP, called Schemes. Pete sent along a track which he hopes some of his bluegrass friends will enjoy. It shows that what he did at Rebel clearly stuck.
“The record isn’t really grass, but one of the tracks is firmly rooted in traditional bluegrass. It’s an original I wrote called Where The Palm Trees Grow, inspired by all those great old Stanley Brothers waltz-time, trio harmony songs, i.e. White Dove, Lonesome River, Fields Have Turned Brown, etc.
I’m singing lead, our banjo player Jake Hoffman sings tenor, and special guest Kristin Andreassen sings the high baritone part.”
