Banjo man Terry Baucom has a new album coming soon on the John Boy & Billy label. Like his 2011 project, In A Groove, this as yet unnamed record will feature Bauc on the five along with an all-star cast of his bluegrass buddies.
Among the buddies are Terry’s former Boone Creek bandmates, Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, Wes Golding and Steve Bryant. Skaggs sings on the album, Douglas plays on several tracks, and Bryant provides all the bass. Golding didn’t track with Terry in the studio, but did contribute a new song that tells the story of Baucom’s long career in bluegrass.
Terry shared a few words about his other studio guests…
“Besides the former Boone Creek guys, I am happy to have Wyatt Rice on guitar, Sam Bush on mandolin and Aubrey Haynie on fiddle. Guest vocalists include some of my favorites, too, like Marty Raybon, Tim Stafford, Larry Cordle, Buddy Melton…and a couple of secret surprises.
This CD will be a little bit more edgy than the first…push the envelope a little with a more contemporary sound.”
An example of this edgy sound can be heard in the record’s first single, a new song from Milan Miller and Mark Winchester called What’ll I Do, sung by Sam Bush.
