Friends and fans of James King know he’s been battling some serious health issues this summer, undergoing surgery, spending time in hospital, and now trying to recover and regain his strength to get back out on the road.
And of course, folks have been lining up to help. Band members and friends got him back to Virginia from the hospital in Missouri where he was being treated, after falling ill shortly after arriving in Branson for the Bluegrass & BBQ festival at Silver Dollar City.
A donation fund has been set up at SunTrust Bank, and now Chip Covington, a bluegrass promoter in Chicago, has created an online option for donations at gofundme.com. Monies raised will go to the fund to help James with medical expenses, and the loss of income while he recuperates.
Chip is also challenging other bluegrass promoters to follow his lead, asking that they send details about the online fund site to their mailing lists, as he has done.
