Brooklyn’s Cricket Tell The Weather has a new album, Tell The Story Right, and a new performance music video for one of the tracks. It’s for their recently grassified version of Sampson, Regina Spektor’s piano/vocal telling of the story of Samson and Delilah, from her 2002 Songs album.
Both Spektor and Cricket’s Andrea Asprelli possess unique and distinctive voices which, though not really similar in style, share an individualistic quality making them immediately recognizable to fans.
The band consists of a rotating cast of characters, centered around Andrea’s voice and fiddle, primarily featuring her original compositions in a string band format. Regular Crickets include Mike Robinson, Jason Borisoff, and Jeff Picker on guitar; Hillary Hawke and Doug Goldstein on banjo; and Sam Weber and Hans Bilger on bass.
