Monroe Special on Truegrass

| September 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

Chris Jones has scheduled a special Bill Monroe tribute for today’s (9/9) edition of his Truegrass show on Sirius XM’s Bluegrass Junction (Channel 61) at 3:00 p.m. (EDT).

“I’ll be playing lots of Bill’s music, with an emphasis on the early years and discussing some of the history of Bill’s career. Plus, I’ll have classic bluegrass covers of Bill Monroe songs by various artists, and the music of many of Bill’s former Bluegrass Boys, like Flatt & Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, Peter Rowan and Kenny Baker.

There will be rebroadcasts, including two on the day of his birthday.

I also plan to do the show wearing one of Bill Monroe’s shirts.”

That I want to see!

We are also delighted to note that Chris will have a weekly column with us when Bluegrass Today goes live.

UPDATE 12:05 p.m. – Chris just sent along this photo of himself preparing for this afternoon’s show, wearing his very own, formerly-worn-by-Bill-Monroe shirt.

Bids will be accepted on eBay after the show.
