Special C heading back west

Here’s the final report from Greg Cahill, who has just finished up a tour in Ireland with Special Consensus.

sixmilebridgeWe played at a wonderful music festival in Sixmilebridge, Ireland, last Sunday – a festival we play every time we come over here. It features many forms of traditional music and as one walks the halls one would encounter Uillean bagpipers trading tunes, pipers and banjo players, guitar players and fiddlers, singers, button box players, etc. The festival takes over the town and we are always fortunate to be lodged in the Bunratty Castle, which is also one of the performance venues. Attached is a photo we took from the stage – the enthusiastic, bluegrass-loving audience were sending greetings to the bluegrassers of America.

Seems to be true that everyone loves music in Ireland!

Had our final show in England last night – in Steeple Morden, where we played a memorial concert for our old friend Phill Morley, who passed away a few months ago. Drove part of the way to the ferry after the show, slept about 2 1/2 hours and finished the drive to the ferry in Holyhead, North Wales.

angel_northArrived in Dublin this afternoon and will play 3 more shows in Ireland to complete the 20 day tour. Here’s a photo of us in front of (dwarfed by) The Angel of the North – the largest sculpture in England. It was created by Antony Gormley in 1998, and is located in Gateshead.
