More Doyle in 2015

In Session - Doyle Lawson & QuicksilverJanuary 20, 2015 has been announced as the release date for In Session, the next Mountain Home album from Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.

It will feature 12 new tracks from the current edition of Quicksilver: Joe Dean on banjo, Josh Swift on resonator guitar, Eli Johnston on bass, Dustin Pyrtle on guitar, Stephen Burwell on fiddle, and Doyle on mandolin. This iteration has been together long enough to have gelled really well, and have a terrific vocal blend.

This one is a secular bluegrass project, with the usual Quicksilver mix of old and new material. Standout selections seem likely to be the dobro/mandolin duet on Bill Monroe’s Evening Prayer Blues, the grassy arrangement of the Ames Brothers’ You, You, You from 1953, and the smooth take on Moe Bandy’s Americana.

The record won’t officially hit until next year, but pre-orders are enabled now from both iTunes and Amazon.
