Michael Daves says Let’s Play Two

Michael Daves UnpluggedThe two album concept is having a good run in 2014, with a number of artists deciding to record and release a pair of CDs at the same time. Not a double album, with two distinct discs, but two separate projects that hit at the same time.

New York grunge grasser Michael Daves is taking his rough and ready, ragged but right approach into the studio shortly to capture both a bluegrass and a more eclectic electrified version of a set of classic bluegrass, mountain and hillbilly songs.

We first got to know Daves’ music when he toured with Tony Trischka several years ago, but he literally exploded onto the bluegrass scene in 2011 with his duo album and tour with Chris Thile, Sleep With One Eye Open. The raw power these two generated was something to behold, successfully winning over a new, younger audience for the classics of the bluegrass genre.

Daves explains his vision in this video he created for his successful Kickstarter appeal.

This is one to watch for when the albums hit next Spring.

Though his Kickstarter campaign has been fully funded, there is still a week left if you want to get in on the fun.
