Last weekend’s LEAF (Lake Eden Arts Festival), in Black Mountain, NC, was ushered in by a fairly brutal cold front, which meant steady winds and frigid temps, but fortunately, sunny skies. Although this isn’t a specifically bluegrass festival, it is an event that covers a broad spectrum of music with a family friendly atmosphere sure to please even the most diehard bluegrass fans and musicians.
The event is held in both spring and fall of each year and this fall just so happened to land during one of the most brilliant color changes in some local’s recent memories.
Friday night’s highlights were a set by Wanda Jackson, then The Infamous Stringdusters/Toubab Crew Set (aka The Infamous Crew), followed by both bands playing their own set. With temps in the low low 40’s, it was a chilly night.
The weather mellowed out for the final 2 days and brilliant sunshine warmed the festival goers. Bungee bouncing children, ziplines, canoes, and even some trapeze flying was enjoyed at this beautiful Western North Carolina mountain festival.
Enjoy the pics.
