Rural Rhythm Records has announced June 4 as the release for their third album for The Roys, Gypsy Runaway Train.
In something of a departure for this brother/sister duo, who have typically recorded their own original music, this new project will include six new Roys songs, and seven classics from the deep catalog of bluegrass and country music.
We can expect their interpretations of Bill Monroe’s Blue Moon Of Kentucky, Merle Haggard’s Ramblin’ Fever, plus I Wonder Where You Are Tonight, Born With A Hammer In My Hand and several others. Among the new songs is one Elaine Roy wrote about her recent divorce, Half Of Me, and Lee’s Another Minute which he wrote about their grandpa.
Elaine siad that things felt a bit different this time out.
“There was a real sense of freedom surrounding this whole project. The album strips away all pretenses and gives the listener a glimpse of both the highs and lows of life.”
We hope to speak with Elaine and Lee soon about this new record.
