Event Details

The Blue Ridge Music Center presents Seán Heely Celtic Band live in concert at its outdoor amphitheater on the Blue Ridge Parkway (Milepost 213) just south of Galax, Va., just north of Mount Airy, N.C. and just east of Sparta, N.C.

With a powerful blend of ancient melodies from Scotland and Ireland, vibrant rhythms from Galicia and Brittany, and original modern compositions, Seán Healy Celtic Band creates a rich musical journey through the Celtic world. Their groove and drive will have audiences of all ages tapping their feet and dancing in their seats.

From Scots Gaelic (Gàidhlig) ballads and sea shanties to pub songs and fiery fiddle and bagpipe tunes, SHCB brings the timeless spirit of Celtic folk music to life. Led by U.S National Scottish Fiddle and Gàidhlig singing champion Seán Heely, the band is comprised of musicians of exceptional caliber. The ensemble explores the rich space between traditional Celtic roots and modern musical expression, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and vibrantly contemporary.

Members include acclaimed multi-instrumentalist & All-Ireland singing champion Kevin Elam, percussive dancer Agi Kovacs, bagpiper Tom Cangelosi, and bouzouki player Beth Patterson. They have performed in venues such as the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Music center, Hylton Performing Arts Center, headliners at Grandfather Mountain Highland Games since 2023, Virginia Scottish games, the Niel Gow Festival in Scotland.
