David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition

David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition

All of the members have played together in different bands as well as the Original Bluegrass Cardinals or Continental Divide. As the name suggests, this band is bringing back the songs and sounds of The Bluegrass Cardinals. The Cardinals were at the top of the Bluegrass heap from 1976 to 1991. They will be bringing back the smooth three and four part harmonies the Cardinals were renowned for.

DALE PERRY Banjo and Vocals
Dale was born in Crum, West Virginia and by age 11 was playing several instruments. His first professional job was with the band Redwing. Dale joined The Bluegrass Cardinals in 1985 playing bass and adding his impressive bass vocal skills. Dale went on to join The Lonesome River Band and then spent 11 years as a member of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, starting off as the bass player and moved over to the banjo later. In 2003 Dale reunited with David Parmley and became a member of Continental Divide. He has produced four of their recordings as well as several other Bluegrass bands over the years. He and David are partners in Lakeside Recording Studio near his currently houseboat home in Gallatin, TN.

STEVE DAY FIDDLE and VOCALS
Steve started playing music at age 14 as a member of his father’s Bluegrass Band. He has lent his fiddle chops to dozens of bands on stage and in the recording studio over the years. He was a member of David Parmley and Continental Divide for 13 years. Steve can also be seen performing on the RFD Network reruns as a Cumberland Highlander and fiddler with Ronnie Reno and Reno Tradition. When not performing, he is a Cattle farmer and gives private music lessons in his hometown of Bowling Green, KY.

RON SPEARS Bass and Vocals
Ron hails from Salt Lake City, Utah. His musical career began at age 12 playing Rock and Roll. He was bitten by the Bluegrass bug at the age of 16 and traded his electric guitar for a banjo. He worked in several local bands until going national in 1999 with his band Within Tradition. Ron is a songwriter with a long list of recordings by several top Bluegrass acts. He has been a member of Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Special Consensus, David Parmley and Continental Divide, The James King Band and Reno and Harrell. He now makes his home in Joelton, TN.

STEVE THOMAS Mandolin, Fiddle and Vocals
Steve has played with many Bluegrass and Country acts over his 40 year career. He has lent his fiddle chops to The Lost and Found, The Osbourne Brothers, Jim and Jessie and The Virginia Boys, The Whites, JD Crowe and The New South and the list goes on. Steve can play any instrument handed to him but will be handling the mandolin duties. He also plays some great twin fiddle with Steve Day. Something very few bands can pull off. Steve and his wife make their home in Gallitan, TN.
