Emerging Artist jam at Milan

Emerging Artist mega-jam at the 2014 Milan Bluegrass Festival (8/16/14) - photo by Bill WarrenWhat do you do if you notice that the Saturday roster at your festival features four out of the five recently announced nominees for the IBMA Emerging Artist award for 2014?

Mark Gaynier at the Milan Bluegrass Festival did the sensible thing, and arranged for Detour, Flatt Lonesome, The Spinney Brothers, and Volume Five to share the stage for an Emerging Artist mega jam.

Mark-Gaynier“I am honored that 4 of IBMA’s 5 Emerging Artist Nominees played here at the Milan Bluegrass Festival this past Saturday. That they were all booked to perform on the same day ended up being a true ‘event’ when they performed a song together on stage for our crowd. It could only have been made more perfect if we’d had Town Mountain, the remaining Emerging Artist nominee performing here, too.

All of us here at the Milan Bluegrass Festival wish these bands and the rest of the nominees the best of luck at this year’s awards!!”

Fortunately, Bill Warren was there to grab some photos, and Kimberly Williams recorded it on video.

It seems that a fine time was had by all.
