Dierks Bentley on Leno

We’ve posted several times recently about Up On The Ridge, the bluegrass/Americana-themed album from Dierks Bentley due June 8 on Capitol Records. It’s an interesting record, with many moments of pure brilliance, and it could attract a lot of attention outside of the “handsome country music bad boy” persona that has been developed for Bentley up to now.

We’ll have lots more to say about the CD as the release date draws near, and you can watch a promo video in our previous post.

You’ll have a chance to hear the title track performed tonight (4/27) on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The song is very much in keeping with Dierks’ style – a bluesy, modal, riff-based format – but with banjo, fiddle, resonator guitar and slide mandolin. It was written by Bentley and Angelo Petraglia, and features Sam Bush on the slide mando and Alison Krauss on harmony vocals.

For the Leno show, Sam will reprise his slide mandolin and Jason Carter will be on hand playing fiddle, joining Dierks’ road band.

The Tonight Show airs at 11:35 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC. If you miss it live, full episodes are available for online viewing within 24 hours at www.nbc.com.

Bentley is on tour now in support of the new CD, which culminates on May 22 with a show at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. A full list of dates can be found online.
