When the Nashville Regional for the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship gets underway this weekend, bluegrass singer Dave Adkins will be on deck to perform the National Anthem on Saturday evening.
Adkins has made quite a splash this year with his debut album with Republik Steele, That’s Just The Way I Roll.
The tournament is set to begin on Friday afternoon, hosted by Vanderbilt University. Look for Dave to sing before the game scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. (EDT) start on June 1, which will be telecast on ESPNU/ESPN3.
He was invited to sing as part of the Children’s Hospital & Arena Tour, created by Sherri George to match touring artists with opportunities to deliver the Star Spangled Banner at sporting contests, tied in with visits performances at area children’s hospitals. Sherri started the tours in 2011 with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and has since involved a number of other bluegrass acts.
Adkins and Republik Steele will perform at Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital for patients and their families at a date to be determined.
