Darin and Brooke Aldridge hits next week

Darin and Brooke Aldridge, the Mountain Home Records debut by – you guessed it – Darin and Brooke Aldridge is set for release on January 19. The all-Gospel CD will be distributed by Crossroads Music and was produced by Nashville songwriter Jerry Salley.

Salley is unstinting in his praise for this husband and wife duo, who made quite an impression at IBMA 2009.

“Darin and Brooke Aldridge are two of the most talented people I have ever worked with. Brooke’s beautiful voice blends with Darin’s as if they were truly born to sing with each other. Darin’s superb musicianship shines on this project. I am honored not only to work with them, but (more importantly) to call them my friends!”

Their live show features Darin on guitar, Brooke on mandolin, Chris Bryant on banjo, Eddie Biggerstaff on bass, and Perry Woodie on resonator guitar. All are featured on the new record, along with Jerry Salley, Tim Crouch and Rob Ickes.

Darin says that they hope to do more than just entertain listeners…

“This CD is one that we hope will uplift and encourage people as well as take them to a place in their minds that will help them forget about struggles or challenges they may have upcoming in their lives. We want it to reach each individual in a positive way. Each song portrays a different message and still has spiritual meaning that we hope people will be able to relate to.”

… and Brooke shares a few words about the material.

“Darin and I are very pleased with each song selection and are very proud to have Jerry Salley as our producer. Jerry along with Donna Ulisse, Tom T. and Dixie Hall, Lisa Schafer, Dennis Duff, Darin himself and so many other great writers provided the lyrics that make these songs come to life.”

Audio samples for all 12 tracks can be heard on the Aldridge’s web site.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m. –  Ted Lehmann wrote in to say that the new CD is roughly half-and-half Gospel and secular material. You can see his review of Darin and Brooke Aldridge on his web site.
